“Without knowing what was wrong, or whether his husband would survive until he got back, he drove home, retrieved their legal documents, returned to the hospital and was allowed to see his husband, and had time to say goodbye. His husband died a few days later, of a brain aneurysm, without regaining consciousness.

I told that story to our white, heterosexual neighbor. She told me what happened when her husband was rushed to the hospital. She arrived at the hospital and only needed to say three words: “I’m his wife.” She got three words in response: “Right this way.””

Lost amongst the euphoria over Obama’s win is the fact that in California it’s liberal citizens voted to stop the marriage of same-sex couples.

This isn’t over. The churches poured money into California to get this abomination passed. Many of are fucking pissed off. If anything, this has generated more activists for the cause.

We’re thought of as liberal her in Cali. The truth is a very large chunk of the southern and central population is conservative.

The facts in an earlier post of mine seem to be wrong. The BBC has posted an update.

The woman in question wasn’t 23 but just 13.

She had not admitted to adultery, but had been raped.

She had not asked to be killed, but screamed “Don’t kill me, don’t kill me”.

But the fact remains that religious beliefs, its practitioners call it a peaceful religion, resulted in a young women being stoned to death.

There are many that would argue that religion is a force for good in the world.

I feel it is not.

May your god walk with you. That way at least he can’t stab you in the back.
